In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, the Center for Advocacy, Prevention & Empowerment (CAPE) is proud to offer a 40-Hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training, the first in California designed specifically for the higher education setting.
This free program is open to CSUDH students, staff, and faculty who want to strengthen their ability to support individuals impacted by domestic and dating violence. Participants who complete the training will receive a Certificate of Completion that:
Meets California’s 40-hour training standard to serve as a Domestic Violence Counselor when working or volunteering under an approved program, and
Enhances professional development by helping faculty and staff recognize how domestic and dating violence can affect students’ academic performance, engagement, and overall well-being, and by supporting students exploring careers in advocacy, social services, public health, education, and student affairs.
Training Details
Dates: October 8 – November 21, 2025
Schedule: Wednesdays 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM & Fridays 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Format: In-person, on campus
Capacity: Limited to 20 participants
