This is your opportunity to enjoy a free, delicious meal while networking with a fellow Toro alum. Our program grants CSUDH alumni the opportunity to host students for an evening of good food, conversation, and connections. The location will be off-campus and will be identified at the time students are selected to participate. The alum will provide one meal per student. Once the program is over, we ask that you complete our survey, so we can further enhance this program. Students pursuing a degree in Public Administration or Political Science are strongly encouraged to apply, however all students are eligible. Selection Process:Students will need to RVSP through Toro Link to complete the student application. Applications will be reviewed by the Office of Alumni Relations and students will be selected based on their responses to the questionnaire. There is limited space available. Selected students will be contacted via toromail, prior to the dinner with event information. Meet our alumni host, Ally Hernandez: Ally Hernandez is a dedicated public servant with expertise in community outreach and engagement, currently serving as a Public Affairs Representative for the Water Replenishment District (WRD), California’s largest groundwater agency by population, serving 4 million people across a 43-city area. Her extensive background includes service in the U.S. Congress, the California Senate, the California Contract Cities Association (CCCA), and the City of Norwalk Parks and Recreation Commission, where she served two terms as Chairperson. She is an alumna of Coro's Climate Resilience Leadership Network, a program focused on developing strong leadership skills to foster a climate-resilient future for Los Angeles County. Ally is a proud graduate of the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District (NLMUSD). She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California State University-Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) and a Master’s in Public Administration from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). Ally frequently mentors students interested in higher education and careers in government, and she is an active community volunteer. Her vision is to direct resources and build connections that enhance the well-being of the Southeast Los Angeles communities she calls home.
